A consolidator sits between two kinds of risk. On one side are airline commitments: deposits on series blocks, name list deadlines and release dates. On the other are sub-agents, some prepaid, some on credit, some reliable and some not.
In India, credit to sub-agents is common but uneven, and many consolidators manage it through deposits, limits and personal judgement. Getting either side wrong - unsold seats or unpaid bookings - comes straight out of margin.
