Fixed Departure Flight Inventory, Date by Date
A fixed departure is a flight on a set date with seats already secured - the backbone of packaged tours, pilgrimages and peak-season sales. EazyPNR lets holders run a calendar of these departures and lets agents book them in real time.
- Departure calendar with seats per date
- Repeated and one-off departures in one view
- Agent booking against held seats
- Links to blocks, allotments and group fares
What counts as a fixed departure?
In the trade, a fixed departure is inventory tied to a specific date and flight, bought or blocked in advance by a tour operator, consolidator or agency. It may be a single date - a festival charter-style block, a pilgrimage group - or one of many repeated departures across a season.
Repeated departures overlap with series fares: the same flight on a weekly pattern, each date holding its own seats. Date-specific inventory is the one-off case. Both share the same discipline: seats are committed before they are sold, so each date must sell through or be released in time. See what are fixed departure flights.
Repeated departures vs date-specific inventory
| Repeated departures | Date-specific inventory | |
|---|---|---|
| Shape | Same flight on a recurring pattern through a season | One date, or a handful of unrelated dates |
| Typical holder | Consolidators and tour operators running regular products | Tour operators, group organisers, event and pilgrimage specialists |
| Main risk | Weak dates within an otherwise healthy series | All seats riding on one sales window |
| How it is managed | Calendar of departures with per-date seats and fares | Single departure record with its own deadlines |
From held seats to a sold departure
Secure the seats
The holder blocks seats with the airline under a series, allotment or group contract.
Build the calendar
Each departure date is loaded with seats, fares, timings and deadlines.
Publish to agents
Dates go live to approved agents or a chosen tier.
Agents book
Agents confirm seats for clients or attach them to a package.
Complete names
Passenger names are collected before each name deadline.
Review each date
Sold, unsold and released seats are tracked per departure.
One calendar for every departure
A season of fixed departures quickly becomes hundreds of rows. A calendar view makes the pattern visible: which dates are healthy, which are lagging, and which are approaching their release date with seats still open.
From the calendar you can close a date, add seats the airline has confirmed, or reprice a slow departure, and agents see the change immediately.
- Per-date seat counts so strong and weak departures are obvious at a glance.
- Deadline markers for name lists and release dates on each date.
- Quick edits to close, reopen or reprice without rebuilding the series.

Where fixed departures connect
Fixed departures are usually built from one of these arrangements.
Blocked seats
Seats pre-blocked on a flight and resold to agents. Blocked airline seats.
Allotments
Seats allocated by the airline, often with release-back terms. Allotment management.
Group fares
A fare for a named group travelling together. Group fare booking.
Running a season of fixed departures?
See your departures on one calendar and distribute them to agents.
What is a fixed departure flight?
It is a flight on a specific date for which seats have already been secured by a travel business, usually to sell as part of a package or to agents at a set fare.
How is a fixed departure different from a series fare?
A series is a set of repeated departures under one arrangement. A fixed departure can be one of those dates, or a standalone date-specific block.
Can travel agents book fixed departures on EazyPNR?
Yes. Approved agents can search and book fixed departure inventory that suppliers have distributed to them. Register as an agent.
What happens to unsold seats on a fixed departure?
That depends on the contract with the airline. Typically unsold seats go back to the airline at the release date, and the holder may face charges if deadlines are missed.
Can I sell fixed departures as part of a package?
Yes. Many tour operators book the flight seat first and then build land arrangements around it.
